Maternity sessions are typically done between 32-37 weeks depending on the size of your belly and how comfortable you are.

All outdoor sessions are done 1-2 hours before sunset as this is the best most flattering light and time of day.

NEWBORN SESSION *

A typical newborn session lasts 2-3 hours In order to guarantee the client several quality images. Certain poses are not guaranteed depending on the sleepiness and cooperation of the newborn. The client understands forcing a child into an unsafe pose that the child is not naturally conforming to could result in the harm of the child and the photographer will refuse to do so. The photographer will do their best to achieve as many poses as possible during the session. A pacifier is requested for soothing during posing and will only be used if necessary and not for more than a couple minutes at a time.

PROPS *

Claire Ryser can provide several neutral colored props, such as light-colored blankets of various texture, stretchy wraps for a newborn, and baskets/boxes of various material for your in-home or studio newborn session. If there is something else you wish to incorporate into the session please feel free to have it ready at the time of the session and we'll do our best to work it in.

FUSSY NEWBORNS *

The photographer is not responsible for a fussy non cooperative newborn. Newborns run on their own schedule, which is why the session MAY take up to 3 hrs. Feeding and soothing breaks will be allowed and are necessary for a smooth session sometimes. In the rare event that the newborn is overly fussy and completely non cooperative, the session will be rescheduled at the discretion of the photographer.

NATURE OF CHILDREN *

Children are precious! They are likely just as nervous about the photoshoot as mom/dad and can easily be overwhelmed with too many adults giving them direction and requests. This is why I ask parent(s) / guardian(s) to select one person to speak at a time, and to do so calmly and in a fun way. I prefer to be the sole voice, but occasionally I will ask parent(s) to help hug, tickle, snuggle, and join in with me to get a laugh or giggle out of your sweet little ones! Sometimes, it does take a village! Some come prepared with treats, bribes, their favorite toy/song/you tube video on your phone! I'll get to know them and help acclimate them too, so we're sure to get some great shots!
